SKOTEL ALPINE RESORT, Whakapapa

Skotel Alpine Resort, located in Whakapapa Village, has hotel rooms, backpacker rooms, and cabins. Standard Queen Rooms (16m2) include a Queen bed, ensuite bathroom with shower, Free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, and tea/coffee facilities; they do not include an outdoor deck. Queen Rooms have views of Tongariro National Park and a furnished outdoor deck. Superior Queen Rooms (25m2) feature a King bed, ensuite bathroom with shower, furnished balcony, and a desk. Ruapehu Rooms have a Queen bed, a single bed, an optional extra single bed, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. Tongariro Rooms offer views of Tongariro National Park, a King bed plus a single bed, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. Family Rooms have a Queen bed and a single bunk bed. The Family Suite includes two rooms with a King bed and two Queen/single bunk beds, plus a bathroom with separate bath and shower. Backpacker Double rooms feature a Queen bed, with access to a shared bathroom, lounge, and kitchen. Backpacker Bunk rooms have a single bed plus a bunk bed.

Skotel Alpine Resort has the Skotel Restaurant and Bar. The restaurant features New Zealand local produce, with an à la carte dinner menu and buffet breakfast available from 7am to 9am. Take-away is available during restaurant hours. The bar opens from 4:00 PM. Packed lunches can be pre-ordered for hiking, skiing, or sightseeing.

Skotel Alpine Resort provides an outdoor spa and sauna, a gym, a games room, a ski rental shop (Edge to Edge), and a children's play area. Free Wi-Fi is available. Guests can hire ski and snowboard gear and hiking equipment from the onsite store, Edge to Edge.

Skotel Alpine Resort is in Whakapapa Village, near the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre (500 meters). It is 6 km from the Whakapapa Ski Area and is on the Thermal Explorer & Volcanic Loop Touring Routes, halfway between Auckland and Wellington. The hotel offers return shuttles to the starting point of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, bookable on arrival. Local hiking trails include Silica Rapids, Tama Lakes, and Taranaki Falls. The Sky Waka gondola is nearby.

Skotel Alpine Resort offers laundry facilities next to the carpark entrance; washing machine and dryer are coin-operated. Washing powder is available at reception.
